EchoKNOB 1
How much goes into the echo: each part's Echo send times this.0 – 100
Echo timeKNOB 2
The tape loop's length, on the beat. Under ~43 BPM a bar won't fit the 5.6 s tape: it shows 5.6 s.1/8 corchea (8th) · 1/8. con puntillo · 1/4 negra (quarter) · 1/4. · 1/2 blanca (half) · 1 bar
FeedbackKNOB 3

3 · The echo, how it plays
The repeats
The first comes back clean, on its time; then each softer and darker, melting into a wash.
In the gaps
Each new stab pushes the returns down (up to 6 dB, back over ~150 ms); a thrown stab's ride over.
The field
One head, its right side a few ms later (Width, SEL: 8 ms at 50); a second head, at three quarters, while a thrown stab rings. Mono under ~80 Hz.
Drift
Form's Drift: the heads wander; now and then the second slides to 2/3, 1/2, 3/8 or 1/4 of the loop, bending its pitch.
4 · The cloud
What
The last 0.74 s of what goes to the plate, played back in grains: up to six, each 80 to 250 ms, anywhere in it, anywhere in the field; now and then an octave down, rarely up.
Where
Into the plate (they bloom in its tail) and out; the tail back into the cloud: a wash that grows on itself.
More
Thicker as the filter opens, and in a Break. It listens as if Reverb were at least 63.
5 · What feeds them
The stripsSEL, white held
Each part's Echo and Plate: 0 none · 50 as the piece sends · 100 twice. The bass sends no echo in any piece; the kick none, its 100 a full send.
Throws
A stab thrown (the Chord page's Throws): its dry 6 dB down, the feedback up. A black key held (SEL): the part slammed in at its own level, the feedback towards 93%, the repeats stacking. A soft clip holds it.
Pushes
The Arrangement page's Echo key and its four sirens (sheet 2); the grid's Throw and Swell, Wash (sheet 10). A set's Segue and Mix hold the echo on a last stab (sheet 12).
WetSEL KNOB 3
The whole music dry, or drowned; for playing, not saved.
6 · Dub hold REC, a tap
On
The echo plays what it holds, the loop as it is: nothing in, nothing lost. The plate rings on, closing to new sound; the cloud stops listening, its grains over what it held. The chord holds.
Shown
REC lit, HOLD in red in the header, the rings and the chord's name red.
Off
REC again. (Held 0.3 s instead: the effects grid, sheet 10.)
FX held
0.5 s, a nudge: Echo, Feedback (smaller steps), Reverb, Size, Cloud. 1.5 s, a shake: a new echo time.
The screen
The ripples are the echo: a ring a repeat, as strong as it comes back. The lanes' rings: where the repeats land.
